"Men are mollified by tits, we don't know why, we just are. It's how we could end war; paint the Goodyear blimp like a tit, put a nipple on it and fly over the Middle East during a confrontation". -Denis Leary
I am a small-breasted woman. Always have been. In high school, I was a 32-A. In college, I got promoted up to a 34-small B. It always made me feel a little less like a woman, given everything we see in the media. Try googling "breasts" and every photo is of larger breasts. Even if you type in "small breasts", it's about half a page of small ones and then back to the ludicrously large ones.
AskMen.com featured an article regarding how important breast size was and, apparently, it's more important when a group of men get together than one individual man's opinion. That phenomenon astounded me a little bit. The argument is that it's similar to women caring about penis size. Being a woman who could care less about that, I still don't get it. All I know is that it makes me feel extremely self-conscious whenever I feel I can't "fill out" a certain outfit and articles like that or google searches that constantly produce Dolly Parton-esque images don't help the situation.
So one day in college, a guy friend of mine said something I will never forget: "Tits are for kids. Any guy who cares about the size of them needs to grow up and realize they're all awesome so long as they're proportionate." Now, aside from making me feel better, it got me thinking: Exactly what is it about breasts that make them beautiful? Is it their size? Their shape?
In my opinion, none of the above. Issues such as tubular breasts aside, I think that all breasts can be beautiful so long as the areola of the nipple is proportionate to the breast size. For example, a woman with a D cup and an areola the size of a dime is not as appealing as an A cup with that same dime-sized one. An average B or small C and a very large areola can be less attractive than on a double D and so on. This may be something small-chested women say to make themselves feel better, but after almost 10 years of posing the question to men, I think I may have actually hit on something here.
As for what makes them so appealing to men, I'm not quite sure. It's no secret that women's bodies are definitely the more appealing of the two genders, but it's almost as if there's something magical about breasts that only men can see.
After a brief discussion with my Viner buddy Simplistic Reality, I decided to get all my fellow Viners in on this because I feel that smaller breasts don't always get the recognition they should and I'm extremely curious about why men are so fascinated by them all, large and small.
So on this holiday weekend, as a social experiment, I ask men and women of all ages to sound off below either in the poll or comments: What makes breasts beautiful and why do men love them so much?
